Starting on June 10, 1949, the Texas Krumnows have held a family reunion every year in Riesel near Waco, Texas. Everyone gets a chance to catch up with people they only see at the reunions and also enjoy the delicious desserts that everyone brings. Each family seemed to have it’s own famous dishes and cooks.
Many years ago, inspired by the good food and togetherness, I volunteered to put together a family cookbook, not realizing what a huge task this was. Within months, we started construction of our first home and I received a job promotion involving lots of travel. I did not make much progress over the years. Luckily, my husband, Randy has pitched in to help finally bring it all together in time for the first reunion of the new millennium. The one benefit of the long delay was that we have received additional recipes not only from the Texas Krumnows but also the Ohio Krumnows. Bill Krumnow had attended one of the Texas reunions and was instrumental in getting participants from Ohio. The Ohio Krumnows have had reunions since 1987 in Elmore, Ohio near Toledo. Without their contributions, we would have had a much smaller cookbook.
Thank you
for your patience and I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge everyone
in Texas and Ohio, who contributed recipes. Gary Overman is also owed a debt
of gratitude for volunteering to print these cookbooks at his company, New
Jersey Legal Copy. Last but not least, we acknowledge the efforts of Phyllis
and Robert Krumnow and Dennis & Nancy Krumnow for ensuring that the tradition
of the Krumnow family reunion continues.
Bon appetite!
