Tweeking NASCAR's Chase Race

Ok, NASCAR again is thinking about fiddling with their formula for the Race to the Chase.

Off to the races - again

There's a truck and IRL race this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. I'm heading down for tonights NASCAR Truck race with my niece Anna and tomorrow Azucena will join us with nephew Marcus.

Race and Rain, right on.

We had several, uh, "wonderful" days in Fort Worth. I'll let you know all about it. In sections.
I'll use the comment section (see below) to fill you in on the daily happenings. A lot happened (and didn't happen) and it would be unwise to put them all in one report since it would take many minutes to read.. and you know how I like to treat you to a story.

Once again, we head to the races

This is going to be so much fun. We did season tickets again for the Texas Motor Speedway. We'll visit with Amber and other friends we met at the Championship Banquet in December. We also have garage passes, so we'll be able to walk around the garage and get autographs again. Whoops. I almost forgot about having to wear long pants in the garage. I was going to go with only shorts. Bad move.

Lent, Basketball and dead grass

Ok, so week one is done. Is Alex Hermann the only one with a perfect bracket so far? He even picked Northwest Iowa over Kansas. Now, if Purdue can win it all...

2009 is history

2009 went out in style for the us in Round Rock:

UT going to BCS Championship game !!!

Tough, hard fought game against Nebraska. Lots of mistakes on both sides. Dropped touchdown pass for Texas, bad call on kickoff against Texas. Bad pass interference call against Nebraska. Bad kickoff for Nebraska and horse tackle.  Bad play choice for McCoy at end of game. Nebraska's #24 finally showed up in the last quarter - Good going.
After tonight's game and seeing what Ingram did for Alabama, I'm thinking Ingram has the inside track for the Heisman.
Great game Nebraska. Sorry someone else had to win. Uh, Glad it was Texas.

NASCAR week in Las Vegas

What a wonderful week we had in Las Vegas. Had fun on the Blackjack and not so much fun on the Texas Hold-Em tables.
But we had more fun with anything NASCAR related.
We started by going to the FanFest on Wednesday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Chase drivers (top 12) showed up and signed autographs. We stopped by the Sahara to eat at the NASCAR Cafe and also pick up a goodie bag that included tickets to Thursday's After the Lap (live interview with the Chase drivers).

The Virgin and Nascar

Did I catch your attention? Don't worry.

Well, the Virgin is really the Virgen_de_guadalupe painting.  Azucena has worked on this for the last week and is for a church play next month. You can see the picture she is basing it on. She also pulled it up on the internet and used an LCD to image it on the canvas and then outline all the markings. As you can see from the original photo she did an amazing job.
