Another Medical Mission begins
Azucena has headed out to Mexico to begin her 3rd medical mission in as many years. I think she's going to San Pedro de las Colonias, but she'll have to confirm it when she gets back. For awhile, the mission was on hold because of losing her job last month, but due to unexpected cash flow, it's back on. Am I concerned? Yep. Probably not as much as her first trip, but pretty much so with all the violence going on now a days. But then again, from what I hear on Iraq, not everything is printed - mostly the bad stuff, so let's hope that is also true about Mexico. They left about 5:30 this morning and made the border around 10:15. It took them about 2 hours to get past customs. So now it's silence as I won't hear back from her till Friday, unless she happens across an internet cafe.
Safe and sound in San Pedro de Las Colonias
Just checked in and had dinner. Managed to find an internet cafe so I could send you a quick note. I´ll try to come over every evening.
Love you,
Azucena
Ohh la la, my baby is safe and sound.
Another regular day at the mission
We had a good visit today. Saw over 200 people. I translated in the
pharmacy and they want to keep me there.
Medical Mission Update
We saw over 300 people today in the Colonia San Francisco. Not bad for a
team of 12 plus Tino. Doing pretty well on meds so far. Tonight we are
supposed to get a tour of the town of San Pedro.

Successful Medical Mission - heading back to Austin tomorrow
Saw about 1300 people with a team that was less than half the normal size.
Took plenty of photos but much less than my Bolivia and Honduras
adventures. Also have sweet and dry red wine to share from Parras which
is a wine/pecan/springs area that we visited last night.

Azucena's Article Summarizing the Mission for the Austin Diocese Paper
I've been published, again! I wrote this article originally for the St. William Newsletter but it was picked up by the Diocesan paper. Here's a link to the web version.

Interestingly enough, they say that it was written by the Catholic Spirit Staff. That's probably because I quoted myself and it would look weird to have my name on the byline.
I still need to upload photos from the Mission.
