Our niece Grace Overman, from the New Jersey Overmans, has a school project.
She re-created a character called Flat Stanley. She then sent Flat Stanley to us so he can have an adventure of a lifetime. Little did she know what she was getting him into.
Flat Stanley came to visit today. One of his best friends Grace Overman suggested he visit with the Round Rock Overmans, Randy & Azucena.
His first tour of duty was helping the Overmans get ready for the recycling center tomorrow. He was doing a great job of putting the newspapers in the paper bin until he found himself sandwiched between today's sports and yesterday's business section. His screams were muffled by the Dextar Pittman's article. Fortunately, Azucena saw him in time and rescued him, but not without a lecture on being more careful around flat objects.
Tomorrow, he's thinking he might want to do World Famous Hoody's Phillie Cheesesteak or Whataburger for lunch.
Flat Stanley had a busy day today.
Flat Stanley got started on the wrong foot this afternoon. He wanted to drive so bad, he jumped in the wrong car and almost got left behind.
He went with Azucena to visit a Christian Book store. He was a bit confused when he was looking over the literature because it looks like Christians speak in different tongues instead of English. Fortunately someone came along and let him know he was looking at literature printed in Spanish.
While in the book store, he thought he'd try on a Priest Vestment (Chasuble) for posterity. I wonder if he's thinking of joining the priesthood?
Later on, Flat Stanley went with the Overmans to help them drop off their recycling. As you can see, he helped (again) with the paper recycling. After his lecture yesterday, he played it smart and stayed on this side of the papers.
On the way home, Flat Stanley tries his hand at steering and shifting much to the dismay of Randy. As you can tell by Randy's expression, Flat Stanley's back shoulder driving is starting to get on his nerves.
Before Flat Stanley goes to bed, he finishes up on his reading and saying his prayers.
Flat Stanley doesn't have to sleep alone, Tiger and Bashful keep him company, if not comfy.
Well, Flat Stanley wanted to help out with shredding our junk mail. Unfortunatley for him, he got one of his legs stuck in the shredder. It wasn't a pretty site. Reminded us of the Gingerbread Man in Shrek.
Later that evening, he was watching the "Queen of PS2" play and she volunteered to use a spell to heal his leg. He showed his appreciation by playing a few minutes with her (needless to say, she kicked his heinie).
Don't you just love it when Flat Stanley helps around the house. To make up for his shredding incident the other day, he volunteers to mop the floors.
As you know, Flat Stanley took on some serious reading material along with his nightly bedtime "chores", so he thought he'd see what the big commotion was with Azucena and her Nursing Home duties.
Well, he visited with Anna Marie, Maria and Ruth nursing home residents.
Everyone was so amazed at his patience, that they asked him to stay for the service.
Flat Stanley came home from a party and introduced us to his new girlfriend Chica. Azucena tried to explain that chica is a term for girlfriend, not really a name, but Flat Stanley couldn't figure it out.
Flat Stanley shows Chica that he is makes excellent mexican food.
Flat Stanley tries his hand at serenading his "chica". I'm glad you weren't there. His singing was so.. flat.
After the serenading fiasco, Flat Stanley tries to show his love for Chica by taking down the big bad bull (olé).
In the end, Chica saw through Flat Stanleys' bravado and decided he wasn't so bad after all. They spent the rest of the afternoon swinging in the hammock.
