Randy's Ramblings

Whenever I think about it, I'll drop a line and let the outside world know what's going on. Feel free to comment on this or any of our other blogs.

Christmas Vacation

We are taking about 2 weeks off to visit my dad in Ohio.
Yesterday was a day of travel from Austin to just outside Memphis. Nothing special happened so nothing was reported.

Today, the adventure began.
We started the morning by driving west instead of east. Don't know how this came about and with the overcast, we could have been heading north or south. Anyway we went about 45 or so miles out of our way. This wasn't a case of not asking directions. It was a case of following street signs, but when getting ON the freeway, it was one entrance too early.

New teenager in our life

You may or may not have read an earlier post that we are hosting a teenager from Brazil. Thiago just turned 16 and although it's only been 1 day, he seems to be adapting quite well.

Is it ever ok to give up your "mancave" ?

Well, no. Mine is actually the guest bedroom with a decent TV, PS3, PS2, Wii, GameCube, movies, etc. Oh, a racing chair so I can sit and race GT4. But, it's going to turn back into a guest bedroom in another day or two and I'll have to modify the master bedroom to fit my needs now.

Bestest road trip EVER !!!

Actually this is late 25th anniversary travel planning. Azucena couldn't take off from school to take a discounted Carnival Cruise along the west coast to Alaska, so this turns out the next best thing. (Any pictures you see on this trip are the ones I took with my DroidX. Azucena took picutures but they are not included here.)

We are going on a sightseeing cruise of our own. Our tour starts in Round Rock. Next destination is Amarillo where we will visit Palo Duro canyon and take on a "musical" of Texas.

Azucena's Article Summarizing the Mission for the Austin Diocese Paper

I've been published, again! I wrote this article originally for the St. William Newsletter but it was picked up by the Diocesan paper.  Here's a link to the web version.   http://www.austindiocese.org/newsletter_article_view.php?id=3890   Interestingly enough, they say that it was written by the Catholic Spirit Staff.  That's probably because I quoted myself and it would look weird to have my name on the byline.

Adventures of Flat Stanley

Our niece Grace Overman, from the New Jersey Overmans, has a school project.

She re-created a character called Flat Stanley.  She then sent Flat Stanley to us so he can have an adventure of a lifetime.  Little did she know what she was getting him into.
