Thursday

We only did 4 things today, but they kept us busy most of the time.

We went to the Red Bull shop (Azucena’s driver - Brian Vickers #83). Chatted and found out they sort of were expecting us. Deneel(sp?), the receptionist was very sweet and chatted with us since it was not very crowded. We hung around for about 30 minutes talking and watching as the shop worked on the 83 and 84 cars
Now, I say sort of expecting us. They knew of us through NASCAR. They put together a surprise package for Azucena and shipped it to NASCAR. They don't have too much merchandise, but that's ok. Azucena went wild anyway.

Then we went across the street to a Motorsport museum. Kinda cool. I see some pictures of vintage cars on NASCAR that I recognize as being in the museum.

Then we stopped by the Roush Racing shop and museum. Lots of people there. Was interesting to see a couple of cars as they appeared after they won a race. Sticky and confetti and dirt all over it. We just missed the drivers signing session. It wouldn't have mattered much. We would have had to have been there about 3 hours early and that wouldn't have happened.

Back at the track, we had a short meeting with the Sophia on our meeting with the TV people scheduled for 5 in the morning tomorrow. The usual stuff, plugging Bank of America and NASCAR points, plus elaborate what we can.

Later we went to the NASCAR R & D center and met with NASCAR's Austin Tate (our Point of Contact for NASCAR). He had shirts, hats and a coat from our respective teams (Azucena - 83, Randy - 24). Spent about an hour or so walking around the NASCAR shop. I thought this was going to be a hush hush type of deal, but we were allowed pictures, although we didn't really take many. Azucena and Mike(our tour guide) were able to talk shop. Each company she has worked for since graduating from college has enabled her to comprehend the way they test things. She asked about certain equipment they weren't using and he gave great answers.
Pretty cool stuff. Had some questions and learned a lot of stuff on how NASCAR operates things.

Feet are soaked. It has rained most of the day. Tired. Hopefully it will end soon.

G’night.
