Reunion Part 2

I guess I should start at the beginning. We arrived at the airport 1 hr 15 min early. We caught our flight as they were shutting the doors. We picked up our luggage 2 hours after we arrived. (Lines were unusually long and my travel guide thought First Class check in would be the fastest, not the slowest. I guess we shouldn't have stopped at McDonalds. Me thinks they cancelled an earlier flight and that was causing all the delays)

It's Tuesday and we are all alone. The last of the original guests for
this place have left us. They are headed back to Michigan. I also found out that Uncle Rocky is part of Cecilia Rockstead's husbands' brothers' family. His wife is from Australia. By the way, the Rocksteads have been here so long, they named a county after them. ROCK. The Rocksteads lived in ROCK county. (I made the story up about the county being named after them, but they did live in Rock county. Actually named for Rock River in 1836, about 70 years before the Rocksteads came over)
Ronald should be here Thurs or Fri. Mr. Doug Rockstead might show up on Friday. We leave on Sat. Aunt Susan and Charlie will be back this afternoon, bring their camper and spend the next few days here.
Cousin April and David are in and out. They live an hour away and with a few dogs and infant, they are more comfortable going back and forth.

It's Wednesday and we are all alone. The last of the other orginal
guests for this place have left us. Aunt Susan and Uncle Charlie. They left around sunup. Yeah, we get the big bed....
We might do the paddle boat thing this morning around the cul-de-sac lake. Later probably putt putt and don't know what else.

Till later, bye.

Robert Moura's response
It sounds like you are having a wonderful time. It is nice to get away and visit family. Even if it's in-laws. Will there be a card game? The weather is muggy here, I though that your weather is hot there too.
I am looking forward to the photo's

I knew a Randy Overman

When I lived in Hawaii in 1980. I think he was attending UH and played in the band. Not you I bet.

Aloha and Mahalo

Good thing you didn't bet.
I was in Hawaii from 1972 - 1980.
Went to Wheeler Elementary, Radford High School (graduated in 78), then spent two years at U of H. Back then they were the Rainbow Warriors.
So, write back and let me know who this mysterious person is.

remain a mystery

Well Mr. Overman, My name will remain a mystery for a few more key strokes. You did not mention anything about your musical talents. Can elaborate more on those activities?

A Mystery is Afoot

Wow, I'm impressed. You came back. So we have a mystery on our hands.

Unfortunately, even though Music was one of the highlights of my college (and high school) career, I never amounted to much more than a great mediocre musician, mostly because I split my time between the clarinet and bassoon - my favorite.
Since I was always a bit hyper, I would rush through any solos that I had, and sometimes the band director would assign other instruments to "help out". But, with all that said, some of my favorite times were playing concerts.
Since you are hinting that we knew each other during 1980, a real short time period, should I limit my guessing powers to that time frame?
Here's more. During one of the football games, I helped lead the charge to go a few steps beyond our placement. "Left turn. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Sixoops. Five. Crapola. One step too much. Left turn".
One of my favorite musical pieces "Night on Bald(or Bare) Mountain)", I had an imporant solo and I even though I got it correct, I would rush through it. This was corrected by having a trombone player taking on the solo with me (wish they would have warned me, but hey, I deserved it).
Wow, almost 30 years ago. What else. I'm pretty sure you're not Joyce.

My previous (high school) musical skills involved playing in the Hula Bowl band, state select bands and the McDonalds All American High School Band (alas, they don't appear to be around any more).

So mystery person...I'm guessing you attended UofH in 1980 and was a band member at that time. After that it's a um, cough cough, a mystery. Are you on the mainland now? Married? Kids? Dogs/Cats? Did you finish school? How did you come about landing on the reunion site - I can't even do it.

Till next time, thanks for the mystery.
