This is a painting of the Virgin de Guadalupe which I did for a play that St. William is having on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 11th. The painting is almost 5 feet tall and will be the tilma used by San Juan Diego. When he gathers the roses it will be inside of this cape and when he unfurls it, the image will be there to recreate the event. I spent most of my Thanksgiving holiday painting it and it turned out better than I expected. It is acrylic using a watercolor technique on unprimed canvas. There is a lot of extra canvas around it so they can make the costume from it.
